Finishing elementary and high school in Toronto, Canada, Anna moved to Croatia at the age of 18. She enrolled into The Faculty of Humanities and Social sciences. There she received her masters degree in sociology and pedagogy. After graduating she worked at various state schools throughout Croatia. During her years working in state schools, she obtained useful experience and knowledge of the Croatian educational system. After a few years of this work experience she decided to search for a more dynamic working environment. Anna applied for the position of a school counsellor at our school and since 2019 has been at our school. She loves to work with children, help with their guidance and tries her best to make sure that all pupils receive the support needed and that their educational journey is as memorable as possible. She is at the disposal of all parents for any questions or concerns as well as support to all our staff members. In her free time she loves to read books, travel around the world and try delicious and new cuisines. Spending quality time with friends and family are also one of her many hobbies.
Sarah-Jane studied at Oxford Brookes University to gain her Post Graduate Course in Education (5-11), having completed her first degree in Drama at Bath Spa University.After gaining experience in a variety of schools through placements, she started in her full time teaching position in England, where she taught in a mixed Year 3 and 4 class for 2 years. First opportunity to work overseas was in Germany, where she taught in Munich at a British International School for 2 years in a Year 4 class, before moving to Croatia to become a part of the Bright Horizons team. She loves helping children achieve their potential both academically and socially, aiming to give them the skills in life to be successful. In her spare time she enjoys travelling and exploring this beautiful country, as well as spending time with her family, friends and dog.
Lucija Končurat comes from Argentina and studied at USAL University (Argentina) to gain her Post Graduate Course in Psycho-pedagogy.After she came to Croatia and learnt the language, she finished her second Master’s degree in Pedagogy at Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb. Through the years, she has gained experience in primary schools in the city of Zagreb and also worked coordinating non-formal education activities in a cultural center, developing language training programs, specifically for Spanish. From 2017 to 2020, she relocated to Italy to become part of an International Humanities Training Project in Rome. After this incredible opportunity, she returned to Croatia to continue her passion for educating, joining the Bright Horizons team. During her time at school she has participated in courses on wellbeing and mindfulness given by MiSP (Mindfulness in School Projects) from the UK, as well as teaching children Spanish language.
Ana Grgić graduated from University of Zagreb, Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences. Her elected graduate study programme was Inclusive Education and Rehabilitation, based on knowledge from the interdisciplinary field of education-rehabilitational sciences which implies various diagnostic, educational and rehabilitational procedures linked with visual impairments, learning difficulties, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), intellectual difficulties, disorders of the autistic spectrum, multiple difficulties, motoric disorders, chronic diseases and creative and art/expressive therapies. She started her professional career in a Croatian state school, but she also gained experience through volunteer work with refugees and looked after children. She currently works as an SEN Coordinator in the Bright Horizons team, with the goal of making sure every child has equal opportunities and appropriate support, no matter which obstacles they face. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and spending time in nature, as well as some peace and rest with a book, movie or music.
Ines was born in Zagreb where she finished elementary school and later graduated from a secondary school concentrated on languages – IV. Jezična gimnazija. In 2002 she graduated from the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Teacher Education as a Primary School Teacher with an additional module in Croatian as a first language. Two years later she began her Postgraduate Master’s degree studies in pedagogy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Since 2002, she has worked as a primary school teacher at Osnovna Škola Gustava Krkleca primary school in Zagreb, where she was deputy Headmaster in 2016 and Chair of the School Board in She continued her professional development in 2016, enrolling PhD studies in pedagogy at the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her scientific research is focused on docimology in schools, based on formative assessment in teaching. Her formal education also includes a degree from the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Kinesiology where she graduated as a tennis coach in 1999, as well as a diploma in Managing State Institutions from the International Education Centre’s Interdisciplinary studies program in 2017. Since 2019. she works in International British School of Zagreb Bright Horizons as a Croatian language teacher. Ines is passionate about continuous life learning and improvement. Being able to transfer knowledge to her pupils in class, and during individual lectures to teacher trainees in methodical exercises, represent a special interest and joy for Ines.
Ružica graduated from the University of Zagreb in Primary Education and Educational Sciences. She has been a form teacher since 2014. After living in the USA as an Au Pair and studying English at Northern Virginia Community College, Ružica started her journey in education as a Teacher Assistant in the upper elementary where she gained rich experience in working with students with special educational needs. In teaching, she focuses on acquiring and applying methods that help pupils learn to reflect and learn to identify the strengths they can use to cope with challenges and failures. Ružica believes that through this process, pupils gain more awareness, confidence, and become empathetic, resilient and thoughtful individuals. She is delighted to be in a vibrant international community here at Bright Horizons where she can explore different and innovative approaches to learning. In her spare time, you'll mostly find her singing, dancing, gaining new experiences and pursuing small adventures with her family and friends.
As a full time teacher and Head of Maths at Bright Horizons, Kristina’s extensive educational background, working experience and passion for teaching has made her an invaluable member of our school’s staff and Senior Leadership Team. After completing an International Baccalaureate Diploma in Social Sciences, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International and Business Economics and a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Economics, she worked in the field of international finance and banking for 10 years. Due to her husband's career, she has lived, worked or studied in Sweden, France, Germany, the US, the UK, Argentina, Zimbabwe and now Croatia. She has a real passion for the international school experience and how much we can learn from each other. Additionally, she completed an International Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Years Education, has now been teaching for 7 years and is loving it. Confidence with numbers and the importance of everyday numeracy are what she values most when teaching maths. Besides being a positively dynamic force in the classroom, Kristina is an amazing mother of two and an avid athlete who enjoys outdoor adventures, visiting and travelling with family, reading and watching films.
